Brooker Dental was established in 1994 as a program of Brooker Memorial. The initial concept for the program and support for it came from The Dr. Isadore Temkin Family. Brooker Dental is the oldest and largest pediatric dentistry practice in Litchfield County. We have 3 highly trained dentists who all specialize in Pediatrics and 4 dental hygienists who are great with children. Our practice has over 9,000 patient visits per year and takes Husky, children with no insurance and submits to all private insurance companies. In addition, we also offer a scholarship program to qualifying families.
The long-term goal of the Pediatric Dental Center is to educate parents and children about good oral health and nutrition, and to instill life-long oral health habits. Good dental habits help to keep your child’s teeth and body healthy for their whole life. Our short-term goal is to introduce children to dentistry in a non-threatening way, to treat any dental issues they may have, and then to continue providing ongoing preventive dental care in partnership with each child and his/her parents.
What is Pediatric Dentistry and why do I need it for my child?
A pediatric dentist acts as a “pediatrician” in charge of your child’s oral health. In addition to the normal 4 years of training for a general dentist, a pediatric dentist completes an additional 2-3 years of training to prepare them for the special needs of infants, children and adolescents. This additional training helps them to better understand early child dental problems such as pacifier use, baby bottle tooth decay, pre-mature tooth loss and routine care of an infant’s teeth.
